Let us choose a pretty shade of green as that is the color of shamrocks ~ which will be blooming shortly ! Well as winter is waining on ... I am really getting a little weary of this weather, however in my maturity I have learned to watch for particular signs of Springs arrival. Today on my way home form the shop I noticed that very thing ! First of all for me to be able to notice these following things I must tell you... At 6:00 PM the sun was still shining. What a relief that is to see ! I have been noticing for the past 2 weeks that the Red Dogwood underbrush is beginning to turn RED ! That means the sap is beginning to move throughout the stems. On a side note here. I am afraid the GOATS have ruined my lilac. They have stripped the bark off of the entire bush ! Makes me saaaaaaaaadddddddddd. I love those little turds but boy that makes me mad!
Any way back to the springing of spring.... I don't think we here in eastern ohio have seen the entire surface of the ground for at least 5 maybe 6 weeks. maybe even longer! What a welcome scene it is now to be driving along the road and seeing the snow line recede as a hair line on an older man does. More and more areas of "roadside " are being exposed. I truly don't believe we will see all the ground at least till the end of March.! This frankly is a Wisconsin winter! Snow from September to March. !
I saw or should I say I smelled a freshly killed skunk on the roadside yesterday ! You know it's coming if they are waking up form their hibernation to come out and walk on the road... ( only to be hit by a car because they aren't watching for traffic !)
Twitter the cockateil is pretty noisy too... I think he knows its that time of year as well ...
Under that icy blanket of white.... Spring awaits...... Patient, Still, Small and Quiet....
Watch the sky my loved one as soon the days will be considerably longer and that old burning ball of fire in the sky will begin to warm our faces ! I just can't wait ! Be blessed this night . Love to you my friend..
